Jobs & production
A job is a piece of work moving through your shop. It’s the production side of an order, the twin of the invoice, which handles the money. The job moves across a live board, one tap per stage, and every move it makes feeds your analytics.
Where jobs come from
Jobs are never typed in by hand. Every job is created for you, from one of three places:
- An approved quote. The invoice and the job are created together.
- A paid storefront order, either per order or per group-order close.
- A Printavo sync, for shops importing existing work.
There’s no “new job” button. If work needs to exist in ManagePrint, it starts as a quote or a storefront order. That’s deliberate: a job with no order behind it has nothing to bill against.
The production stages
Every job moves through a clear set of stages:
Pending → In Prep → Awaiting Approval → Approved → In Production → Completed
These stages power your analytics, so they stay consistent. A seventh status, Cancelled, exists for work that’s called off. You can filter for it in the Jobs list view, but cancelled jobs are kept off the production board.
The pipeline you customize is your invoice statuses, where you add stages like QC, receiving, and shipped.
Advancing a job is one tap, on any device. Anyone with access can move it forward, an admin driving it part by part from the dashboard, a worker tapping “in production” at a station.
